What is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating that occurs beyond the body’s normal temperature regulation needs. It can affect various areas of the body, including the underarms, hands, feet, face, and back. It can cause discomfort, embarrassment, and interfere with daily activities.
There are two types of hyperhidrosis:
- Primary Hyperhidrosis: Sweating without an underlying health condition, often affecting specific areas like the hands, underarms, and feet.
- Secondary Hyperhidrosis: Sweating caused by an underlying medical condition or medication, affecting larger areas of the body.
Treatment Options for Hyperhidrosis
We offer a variety of treatment options to manage and reduce excessive sweating:
- Botox Injections: Botox temporarily blocks the nerve signals that trigger sweating. It is FDA-approved for underarm sweating and has been shown to provide significant relief for up to 6–12 months.
- Iontophoresis: A non-invasive treatment that uses electrical currents to reduce sweating in the hands and feet.
- Microwave Therapy : Targets and eliminates sweat glands under the arms with heat energy, offering permanent reduction in underarm sweating after 1–2 sessions.
- Medications: Prescription antiperspirants and oral medications can help manage sweating, especially in cases of secondary hyperhidrosis.
- Surgical Options: In severe cases, we may recommend surgery to remove sweat glands or interrupt the nerves that cause sweating.
